Internship Journey with the Diving Robot Project – A Memorable Experience of Our Group

During the last internship, our group decided to choose the topic of underwater diving robots to carry out the project. The reason is very simple: environmental protection is a “hot” issue and is widely concerned. Water is the source of life, but currently rivers and lakes are being seriously polluted. Therefore, creating a robot that can dive underwater to measure water quality indicators is an urgent thing that I think should be done.

I was also accompanied by two friends of the same age, both passionate about technology. Working in groups made me feel very satisfied because we could both learn from each other and support each other to progress together.

The goal that the group is aiming for is to build an underwater diving robot (UAV robot) that can measure basic water indicators, such as turbidity, temperature, or pH concentration. We hope that this product can become a premise for further research, serving environmental protection and raising awareness of the importance of clean water sources.

To ensure progress, the team divided the project into two main areas of work: programming and hardware assembly. One member of the team was in charge of the main programming, one focused on the assembly stage, and I was responsible for supporting both areas, especially coordinating to ensure the operations were compatible with each other. Thanks to this clear division, we avoided overlap and saved a lot of time.

To be honest, the biggest difficulty I encountered was programming. I was not good at this field, so when I started writing the code to control the robot, everything became quite confusing. There were times when I felt discouraged because I could not find the error. But I could not stop, I continuously researched available documents online, asked seniors and asked for help from teachers. Finally, we completed our product.

Finally, the moment of glory came, we tested the robot in a small lake. The group was quite nervous, because this was the first time the product was “launched”. The results were very encouraging: the robot worked stably, the measurement indicators were quite accurate. Although there are still many points to improve, but for an internship project, it was a success beyond expectations.

Memorable internship days

During the internship, we received great companionship and support from the instructor as well as the seniors. The teacher directly showed me how to control the robot, instructed me on how to handle problems and always encouraged the group to try. These are the experiences that help us practice how to handle difficult situations. These are truly precious moments that not every student gets to experience. It gives me a sense of maturity, a sense of being a responsible person, a person who adheres to work, ensures deadlines, and most importantly, teamwork skills.

More importantly, the project opens up a new perspective for us on applying technology to solve environmental problems. And I believe that this journey is just the beginning of bigger ideas in the future.
